Robert Innes Smith was born in 1884 in Keith, Banffshire, son of Innes and Mary SMITH (née DICKSON).

1891 census...Aged 6, he was at Land Street, Keith with his father [39] blacksmith born Droxford; his mother Mary [39} born Cuirrey, Aberdeen; brother John [8] and sister Lizzie [3] both born in Keith.

1901 census...Aged 16, a draper's huntpant, he was at 89-91 Moss Street, Keith, with his father Innes SMITH [50] cycle repairer, born Droxford, Banffshire; his mother [50] born Huntly, Aberdeen; brothers John [18] apprentice painter born Keith and William [6] born Keith; sister Lizzie [13] born Keith.

1911 census... Not found in this census. His father (blacksmith) was boarding at 141 Land Street, Keith with Alexander IMLACH


Robert enlisted in Glasgow. His sister Eliza is named sole legatee in the Register of Soldiers Effects.




Robert Smith is buried in Ingham (St Bartholomew) Churchyard, grave B:3
